2. Rainbow Colors
Place a glass of water on a white piece of paper and let the sun shine through
it. The water breaks the sun's light into seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green,
light blue, indigo, and violet. These are the colors you see in a rainbow when the
sun shines through water drops in the air. For more on rainbows, go here.
Weather ideas for elementary
students:
1. Draw
a picture of your favorite activity to do in the sun. Collect pictures from
magazines of sunshine activities.
2. Talk about the benefits of sunshine. Talk about problems from sunshine.
3. Keep a thermometer shaded from the sun. Note the temperature. Then let the
sun shine on it for several minutes and note the temperature again. What is the
difference in temperature?
