Do you know someone who is afraid of thunderstorms, tornadoes or hurricanes?  Do you want to teach your children or students what to do in severe weather?  Do you want to learn more about nature's most powerful storms?

Nick Walker, the “Weather Dude ®”and on-camera meteorologist for The Weather Channel ® has done it again with his new recording, “Don’t Get Scared, Just Get Prepared.”  In popular musical styles ranging from be-bop to blues and salsa to surf (and with a generous dose of humor thrown in), Nick gives young people the information they need to feel safe in any kind of severe storm. "The more understanding you have," says Nick, "the more empowered you are when severe weather comes; so not only do you feel safer, you are safer." While providing lessons in storm safety in a fun and non-threatening way, each song also presents simple, yet scientifically accurate descriptions of severe weather phenomena. Subjects include:

Tornadoes: How they form and what to do if your area is under a tornado warning. (You'll want to dance to this one!)

Hurricanes: When and how to prepare for hurricanes and tropical storms. (In definitive Beach Boy style!)

Blizzards: What a true blizzard really is, and how to stay safe in blinding snow. (Okay, what rhymes with "blizzard?")

Floods: Staying safe and what to do when the water rises. (Turn around, don't drown!)

Lightning: Knowing the real danger from thunderstorms and how to avoid being a lightning victim. (This is a rocker!)

Watches and Warnings: Knowing the difference between a severe weather watch and a warning, and what to do if one is posted for your area. (Can you say "What's a watch and what's a warning?" ten times real fast?)

Sun Safety: Knowing the hidden dangers of heat and ultra-violet radiation, including heat stroke and sunburn.

Air Pollution: How to know when to limit your outside activity to avoid breathing problems. (Be warned--Nick's impersonation of Kermit the Frog and Ms. Piggy will make you laugh out loud!)

Emergency Kit: Why an emergency disaster kit is important, and what to put in one. (And find out what rhymes with "moisture wipes!")

Severe Weather Plan: How to develop and implement an emergency storm plan.

"Don't Get Scared, Just Get Prepared" is scheduled for release in early 2010.  Watch for it soon on compact disc and electronic download.  In fact, send an email to NewCD@wxdude.com and Nick will send you a personal email as soon as it is available!
